Hughesville, MD – Fire caused heavy damage to a Charles County home Tuesday, Oct. 31, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, the blaze was discovered by the owner of the one-story, single-family home on Herbert Road in Hughesville around 7:21 p.m.
โThe fire occurred as the result of an electrical malfunction within the bathroom of the dwelling,โ a deputy fire marshal reported. There were no injuries. As a result of the fire three adults and three children were displace. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.โ
Twenty firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought it under control in 10 minutes. Damage is estimated at $50,000. Authorities identified the homeowner as Deborah Elliott.
