Calvert County, MD –ย On January 6, 2015 at 1:18p.m. a crash occurred along southbound Rt. 4 in the area of Bowie Shop Rd.ย involving 5 vehicles.
Joseph Angle, of Upper Marlboro, was at fault in the accident. ย
Angle attempted to change lanes when he sideswiped a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office marked patrol vehicle, which was being driven by Deputy Bare. ย
Angle’s car then hit the back of a 2013 Toyota Venza driven by Diane Bowles of Huntingtown. ย This sent her vehicle into the median where she came to a stop.
Lynn Taylor, of Prince Frederick, was then hit from behind by Angle’s car and the impact pushed her car forward into a 2006 Ford van driven by Kyle McMaster of California Md.
Bowles and Taylor were transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries. ย Angle was transported to Washington Hospital Center where he was admitted for his injures.
It appears that Angle fell asleep behind the wheel, which then caused this accident.
ย Calvert County, MD – On January 6, 2014 at approximately 1:20 PM, Deputy J. Bare of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Division, was involved in a traffic collision on Route 4 near Bowie Shop Road. Deputy Bare was transported by ambulance to Calvert Hospital with minor injuries. 5 total vehicles were involved and Deputy Bare was not at fault in the crash.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and is handling the investigation.
Prince Frederick, MD – On Tuesday, Jan. 6, at approximately 1:20 pm, there was a report of an accident on Route 4 South near Bowie Shop Road.
At least five vehicles were involved in this accident including a St. Mary’s County Police car and a vehicle driven by an off duty police officer.
The off duty police officer was flown from the scene by helicopter for his injuries, others were transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital.
The cause of the accident is not yet known.
