The SMAC Coaches Association held the First Annual SMAC Football Combine at Westlake High School in Waldorf, Sunday April 11th, 2010. The weather was perfect with sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70’s.
Over 180 players from most of the local high schools participated in a full day of skill events including the 40 yard dash, 5-10-5 shuttle, pro agility drill, bench press, broad jump and vertical leap. Coach Dominick Zaccarelli, host of the event said this event is important “so the kids can see exactly what college coaches are looking for so they can play at the next level.”
Donnie Zimmerman from The Playmaker Recruiting Report is a full time college scout, and was there to pass on information to 85 colleges at all levels. Zimmerman said that his services are at no charge to the students as he is paid by the colleges. He stated that he “helps students find the right school to fit their academic ability and skill level.”
