The game between Patuxent (3-0) and Calvert (1-2) was close early as a 70 yard TD run by Calvertโ€™s Ray Hayes made the score 14-7 Patuxent, in the second quarter. Travez Lee ran back the ensuing kickoff back 80 yards and the rout was on as Patuxent won 51-7. QB Ed โ€˜Gooseโ€ Massengill led his team with 13 of 16 passing for 187 yards and two TDโ€™s. His leading receiver was Tyler Austin with 4 catches, 101 yards and 2 TDโ€™s. Dakota Edwards has 114 yards on 14 carries and a TD. Rafiq Edwards added 68 yards rushing and 2 TDโ€™s. The Panther defensive line kept the pressure on the Cavaliers all night getting 5 sacks. Patuxent has now outscored their first three opponents 106-7.

The biggest battle of the night took place in Morganza as the Chopticon Braves (3-1) beat Huntingtown 19-14 in an important early season battle in the 3-A South division. David Bell gave the Hurricanes the early lead with a 36 yard TD pass from QB Justin Bittner. After a punt from Chopticonโ€™s Chris Palmer was dropped by Huntingtown, the Braves special teams recovered at the 12 yard line and took advantage of the great field position, scoring on a 4 yard screen pass from Cody Douglas to Michael โ€˜Bamโ€™ Wroble. Douglas scored on a QB keeper from 4 yards out late in the second quarter. A missed extra point gave the Braves a 13-7 lead at the half. Chopticonโ€™s special teams stepped up again early in the third quarter recovering another fumble on a punt return and the Papa johnโ€™s Player Of The Game, Josh Gray made a one handed catch in the back corner of the end zone on the 11 yard pass from Douglas. The two point conversion attempt was unsuccessful. Huntingtown added a 2 yard run from Davonte Fletcher and the Braves defense held on for the victory. The Huntingtown defense was led by great play from LB Andrew Bose and Chopticon had a number of big tackles from Daniel Russell, Willie Adams, Michael Messick and Nick Landavazzo.
