On Sunday, June 27, at approximately 6 p.m., the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad responded to Calvert Market Center in Prince Frederick for reports of smoke coming from the building.
Companies from Huntingtown, Benedict and North Beach were also dispatched on the call.
There was a small fire found on the front awning area of an unoccupied building space. Forcible entry was required to check the interior of the building for additional fire, but nothing was found and all signs lead to fire being on the outside awning area.
The fire marshal was requested to the scene. The result of the investigation is unknown at this time.
