The Maryland Department of Planningย  and the Task Force on the Future for Growth and Development in Maryland are hosting a series of public forums across the state so residentsย can share their thoughts and ideas on future growth in the state.

The Southern Maryland forum will be Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m.at the SMECO Building in Hughesville. This forum is open to all citizens.

Topics will include smart sustainable growth, growth and a healthy environment, regional development, historic preservation, transportation and growth and growth and schools.ย ย  Ideas shared at these sessions will help shape the Maryland State Development Plan.

Five other sessions will take place in Marylandโ€™s other regions โ€“ Baltimore Metropolitan, Washington Suburban, Lower Eastern Shore, Upper Eastern Shore and Western Maryland.
