Incoming students at St. Maryโ€™s College of Maryland will participate in service projects across the county today.

One hundred new students and 70 student leaders will role up their sleeves and join in Seahawk Service Saturday as part of the orientation experience.ย  Service projects and locations include:

โ€ขMaintenance of guest rooms and grounds at Greenwell State Park
โ€ขTruck cleaning at the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department
โ€ขRoadside cleanup at Mattapany Road
โ€ขCleanup of the college waterfront on state Route 5
โ€ขTrail maintenance at Sotterley Plantation
โ€ขFarm gardening and outdoor maintenance at Summerseat
โ€ขGardening and mulching at St. Ceciliaโ€™s Catholic Church
โ€ขCleanup at Trinity Church
โ€ขFence construction and outdoor tasks at St. Johnโ€™s Museum site in Historic St. Maryโ€™s City.

Service activities are designed to involve incoming students in the community as an introduction to the SMCM culture of civic engagement and social responsibility.
