Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano, announces administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of May 25, 2011.

The Board appointed Mr. Michael โ€œJakeโ€ Heibel to the position of principal at Great Mills High School. He is replacing Ms. Tracey Heibel who is transferring to the position of supervisor of science and STEM.ย  Mr. Heibel, who most recently served as an assistant principal at Leonardtown High School, began his teaching career with the school system in 1992 as a social studies teacher at Great Mills High School. His experience also includes serving as a High School Assessments lead teacher, social studies department chair, and teacher in charge.ย  Mr. Heibel earned a Master of Arts degree from McDaniel College in 2000, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, in 1992.

The Board also appointed Ms. Maureen Montgomery to the position of principal at Leonardtown High School School. She is replacing Mr. David Oโ€™Neill who is transferring to the position of assistant principal at Chopticon High School.ย  Ms. Montgomery, who has served as principal of Spring Ridge Middle School since 2006, also served as principal of Benjamin Banneker Elementary School from 2001 to 2006.ย  She holds a Masterโ€™s degree in special education from Bowie State University, and a Bachelorโ€™s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park.ย

Ms. Angela Fulp was named principal of Spring Ridge Middle School where she has served as an assistant principal since 2006.ย  Her experience also includes serving as a supervisor of special education.ย  Ms. Fulp earned a Masterโ€™s degree in educational administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA in 1999, a Masterโ€™s degree in speech language pathology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA in 1986, and a Bachelorโ€™s degree in speech language pathology from Longwood College/University of Virginia, Farmville and Charlottesville, VA in 1984.
