Even the fastest Soap Box Derby racer couldn’t generate enough wind to cool down this past Saturday. That didn’t stop the competition, just wilted the energy of all the racers, bystanders, officials and fans.
The area suffered through its first heat wave of the season with temperatures approaching 100 and heat indexes soaring through the roof. Even so, the Soap Box Derby came off without a hitch and the competition was fierce.
