Boat captains and crews are invited to participate in the Solomons Lighted Boat Parade on Saturday evening, December 4 during the 26th annual Solomons Christmas Walk. Decorate your ship’s starboard side and more to show your holiday spirit as all boats, of any size, shape, or make are welcome. Hosted by the Solomons Business Association (SBA), the Solomons Island Yacht Club (SIYC), the Solomons Yachting Center (SYC), and the Patuxent River Sail and Power Squadron (PRSPS), this year’s parade promises to be the best ever!
A captains’ meeting will be held on December 4 at Solomons Yachting Center’s club house at 5:15 p.m. to cover the route of the parade, safety issues, and the rules for judging. All boats must be at the facility prior to the meeting. Pre-parade activities for participants will be hosted by the SYC and the PRSPS. Parade participants will depart from the marina at 6:00 p.m. and will fall into parade form as Molly’s Leg is circled. Tow Boat U.S. will lead the participants up Back Creek at 6:15 p.m. and will then head back past SYC and the judges. The parade will wind behind Molly’s Leg and head out to the Patuxent River and up along the boardwalk.
Captains, crews, and guests, along with SIYC members are invited to the post-parade celebration at the Solomons Island Yacht Club for refreshments and the announcement of winners.
