Prince Frederick, MD – A Calvert County man has been indicted by a grand jury on charges he stabbed his mother during a domestic altercation in May, court documents stated.
The five-count indictment of Darrell Lee Adams, 38 of Owings, was handed down in Calvert County Circuit Court Monday, June 15. According to a report from the Calvert County Sheriffโs Office, Adams allegedly stabbed his mother in the abdomen and arms.
The 58-year-old woman was flown to Prince Georgeโs County Hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries. Police reported other members of the family were present during the Sunday, May 17 fracas and tried to stop the attack. No one else was injured.
The indictment charges Adams with one count of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault and one count of dangerous weapon, wear and carry with intent to injure.
Adams is tentatively scheduled to appear before Judge Marjorie Clagett in circuit court Monday morning, June 22. He is currently incarcerated in the Prince Georgeโs County Detention Center in Upper Marlboro.
