A sparkler from a July 4th celebration caused a fire and damage to a porch at a home in Lusby.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshallโs Office, โThe accidental fire began beneath the front porch as a result of sparkler that was dropped under the deck when the user thought it went out. The fire caused minimal damage to the residence. There were no injuries as a result of the fire and the family was not displaced.โ
The fire was discovered by a neighbor. Damage to the porch at 640 Lisa Lane was estimated at $1,000.
It took 15 firefighters from the Solomons VFD five minutes to bring the blaze under control.
The incident was investigated by Deputy Fire Marshall Melissa Bean.
