The Calvert County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing June 12 at the Patuxent High School Auditorium in Lusby Maryland at 7 p.m. to consider a petition filed by the Property Owners Association of Chesapeake Ranch Estates for the creation of a special taxing district for the Chesapeake Ranch Estates subdivision.

ย

The petition asks that a special taxing district be created for the Chesapeake Ranch Estates subdivision and that an annual special tax, in the amount of $250 be assessed against each lot in the subdivision.

The term of the special taxing district is proposed to be five years.

Revenues raised by the special taxing district would pay for repair, resurfacing, widening and general improvements of roads within the subdivision, the installation of drainage structures and devices along subdivision roads, and the installation of speed control devices on the subdivision roads.

The estimated costs of the proposed improvements over the five-year term of the special taxing district are $5,750.ย

Interested persons may obtain a copy of the entire petition from the business office of the Property Owners Association of Chesapeake Ranch Estates located at 395 Clubhouse Drive in Lusby, or may view the petition at all branches of the Calvert County Library.
