On the morning of December 17, 2011, children from around St. Mary’s County were picked by an officer for a morning of shopping with a cop. This was a part of St. Mary’s County 9th Annual Shop with a Cop sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police and the Optimist Club. Shop with a Cop is where local children are selected to spend a morning with a local law enforcement officer to spend the morning shopping with donated funds.
The officers brought the children to the Wildewood Shopping Center to start the morning off with Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee and Chick-fil-a breakfast sandwiches and a briefing of the morning. The officers then caravanned down to Walmart with light and sirens on to start the morning shopping spree. Once the children selected their shopping spree and checked out, the officers took the children to the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds for assistance with wrapping the presents.
