Due to the impending snowstorm and dangerous conditions predicted by the National Weather Service, St. Maryโs County Government will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 10.
ย There will be no Meals On Wheels delivery on Wednesday, Feb. 10. Recipients of home delivered meals should use the emergency meals previously provided. Future cancellations of meal deliveries will be determined on a day-to-day basis. The Senior Activity Centers and Ripple Adult Day Center will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 10; continue to check the Department of Aging website at www.stmarysmd.com/aging for updates.ย ย
Windsย on Wednesdayย may be between 15 to 25 mph.ย Be prepared for possible electric outages. All are encouraged to do visual checks on facilities in light of the roof collapses/structural issues.ย Please do so during and after this event.ย It is expected that the snow accumulation on roofs will remain for days after this snowfall event due to at and below freezing temperatures.ย
The Governor of Maryland has issued an Emergency Declaration and all state and local emergency response agencies will be working throughout the duration of this storm.ย Citizens are encouraged to monitor weather conditions by watching the Weather Channel or by visiting the National Weather Service web-site at http://www.nws.noaa.gov.ย During the storm the Emergency Information Hotline will be updated with information at (301) 475-4200 ext. 4911 and you can also visit the county web-site at www.stmarysmd.com for Emergency Advisories.
