St. Mary’s Public Schools Garner Two of Five State-wide Math Awards

St. Mary’s County recently garnered two of the five state-wide awards from the Maryland Council; of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). The awards were announced at the regular November 28 school board meeting.

Courtney Klann Dvorak, an instructional Resource Teacher at Leonardtown Elementary was named MCTM Outstanding Early Childhood Educator of the Year. Dvorak recently served as a second grade teacher.

Supervisor of Instruction for Elementary Mathematics Rebekah Loker was named MCTM Outstanding Educator of the Year in the non-classroom category.

School Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano praised both Dvorak and Loker and presented them with certificates of appreciation and then the entire board posed with them for pictures.
