On April 20 at 10:31 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Jaybee Lane in La Plata for the reported stabbing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 39-year-old man, intervened in an argument between Joseph Henry Forbes, 32, of no fixed address and another man. A physical fight between Forbes and the victim ensued, during which Forbes brandished a knife and stabbed the victim in the torso. A witness called 911 and officers arrived and ultimately arrested Forbes. He was charged with first- and second-degree assault and carrying a deadly weapon. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. The victim was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where he was treated for his injuries. Det. Y. Austin investigated.
