At 11 a.m. Dec. 4, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office Detectives D. Gross and C. Baker of the Auto Theft Unit were investigating a string of auto thefts in Lakewood when they observed three males behind a house in the 1200 block of Sweetbriar Place who were acting suspiciously.

When the males saw the detectives, who were wearing plain clothes and in an unmarked car, the males fled to Sentry Woods, where they were apprehended.

Investigation revealed one of the subjects, a 15-year-old Waldorf boy, was carrying a BB pistol in his waistband.

He was arrested and further investigation revealed the BB pistol had been stolen from in a burglary committed in the area.

The boy was charged with burglary, carrying a concealed weapon and trespassing. He was released to the custody of his parents. The other two boys were not charged.

About six vehicles have been stolen in this area since October.
