Coming off of their win against Gwynn Park, Patuxent bought themselves a date with the Dunbar Poets, out of Baltimore City this Friday night. Dunbar, the fourth seed in the 2A North, won two straight road games over Eastern Tech, and Patterson, to get to this point. Dunbar has been a perennial power in football, having won nine state titles. They were last yearโs runner-up, as they fell to Douglass 38-0 in the state final. Patuxent will look to gain their third ever trip to the state championship game, and second in three years.
It has been confirmed that Jaelen Gross will be starting at quarterback for the Panthers, and Reese Crounse will be his backup. Crounse will see action as necessary for the Panthers. Gross struggled last week throwing the ball, and was replaced by Crounse, the better runner, in the second half. Crounse organized two touchdown drives to pull the game out 16-14.ย Patuxent does feature a trio of senior wide outs that were a part of the 2013 state final run. They will be the group to watch as they will attempt to shake off pesky Dunbar defenders.
The game will be at Patuxent, but Dunbar has lots of momentum coming out of their region. Itโs sure to be an exciting game. If you canโt make it out to Patuxent, follow us on twitter @TheBayNetSports for live tweet updates of the game.
