St. Mary’s City, MD – The annual Relay for Life at St. Mary’s College of Maryland was held Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics and Recreation Center. The event, which was chaired by Casey Roberts and Price Kinsey, started at 6:15 p.m. Survivor and Caregiver Lap. Subsequent laps included the Wizard of Oz, wheelbarrow, counter clockwise, freestyle, backwards, piggyback, “dance it out” and the final lap at approximately 2 a.m.
Among the fun activities during the Relay were a three-legged race, a birthday celebration, selfies with the president, “Jail and Bail,” head-shaving, “Stuck for a Buck,” crab walk, rock wall, performances by the Hawkettes, Inter Chorus A Capella and drum corps, open mic and the “fight back” ceremony.
The event raises funds for the American Cancer Society. “Relay For Life has become an integral part of St. Mary’s and we cannot wait to see it continue to grow in the St. Mary’s community,” Roberts and Kinsey said in a joint statement. “Every single team captain and participant is appreciated.”
In all, 17 teams participated. In addition to the college, sponsors for the event were Hawk Radio, Bon Appetit Management Company, Panera Bread, St. James Deli and Potbelly Sandwich Shop.
