State officials reported a vehicle stolen from Washington, DC was set ablaze Jan. 26 in Waldorf. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, a passerby discovered a 2004 Lexus Ls430 on fire on Sharpersville Road shortly after 3 p.m.

Six volunteer firefighters from Waldorf were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in two minutes. The fire originated on the vehicle’s interior passenger compartment, Dfm. Melissa Bean stated. No one was injured and no arrests have been made. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $8,000.
