On Sunday, Julyย 25ย at approximately 1:06 p.m., Trooper Galgan was on duty operating marked patrol vehicle H-31.ย  Trooper Galgan and Trooper First Class Ford were working a speed enforcement initiative on US Route 301ย at South Faulkner Road, in Faulkner (Charles County).

The Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack received information that an unmarked Chevrolet Impala police cruiser belonging to the Prince Georgeโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office had just been stolen with shots fired in Prince Georgeโ€™s County.ย  A radio broadcast was given that this vehicle was being operated southbound US Route 301 south of La Plata.ย 

Trooper Galgan observed the silver Chevrolet Impala with sirens activated operating at a high rate of speed southbound US Route 301ย at South Faulkner Road.ย  Trooper Galgan attempted to stop the vehicle using emergency lights and siren.ย  The suspect refused to stop and continued traveling south on US Route 301 at speeds of up to 120 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.ย 

The suspect struck the rear of a vehicle on US Route 301ย at the Harry Nice Memorial Bridge toll plaza causing a five vehicle collision chain reaction.ย  The suspect fled the stolen vehicle on foot.ย  Trooper Galgan and Trooper First Class Ford apprehended the suspect without incident.ย 

The suspect has been identified as James Lloyd Robinson, III, 22 of no fixed address. Charges are pending.
