
Mechanicsville, MD – A 2011 Ford Fusion believed to have been stolen from Charles County was found ablaze in St. Maryโs County Thursday evening, June 29, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, the vehicle was discovered by a resident on Medley Lane in Mechanicsville around 6:45 p.m.
โThe vehicle was reported stolen from La Plata around 3 p.m.,โ a deputy fire marshal reported. โThe vehicle is a total loss as a result of the fire.โ
No injuries were reported. Five volunteer firefighters were dispatched and brought the flames under control in 10 minutes. The deputy fire marshalโs investigation determined the blaze originated in the vehicleโs passenger compartment. The perpetrator is believed to have ignited available combustibles inside the passenger compartment. The estimated loss is $10,000. The vehicleโs owner was identified by the deputy fire marshal as Philip Fenwick.
