Mechanicsville, MD – A 2011 Ford Fusion believed to have been stolen from Charles County was found ablaze in St. Maryโ€™s County Thursday evening, June 29, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the vehicle was discovered by a resident on Medley Lane in Mechanicsville around 6:45 p.m.

โ€œThe vehicle was reported stolen from La Plata around 3 p.m.,โ€ a deputy fire marshal reported. โ€œThe vehicle is a total loss as a result of the fire.โ€

No injuries were reported. Five volunteer firefighters were dispatched and brought the flames under control in 10 minutes. The deputy fire marshalโ€™s investigation determined the blaze originated in the vehicleโ€™s passenger compartment. The perpetrator is believed to have ignited available combustibles inside the passenger compartment. The estimated loss is $10,000. The vehicleโ€™s owner was identified by the deputy fire marshal as Philip Fenwick.
