La Plata, MD – A 2005 GMC Yukon that was reportedly stolen from the Washington, DC area was found abandoned and damaged by fire Wednesday morning, Nov. 11 in Charles County, state investigators reported.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the owner of the property on Durham Church Road discovered the vehicle around 9:19 a.m. and notified authorities.
After the vehicle was stolen and driven to Maryland “there was an attempt to set it on fire,” Dfm. Zack Dell reported. “No one was injured as a result of the fire.”
Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $5,000. Zell identified the vehicle’s owners as Markita Miller and Gregory Davis.
No arrests have been made and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the arson investigation.
