During the meeting, Mayor Dennis J. Scheessele and Vice Mayor Edward W. Rice appointed Thomas N. Blake, Sr. to a two year term on the Indian Head Planning Commission.ย His term starts effective immediately.ย Blake was not in attendance during Monday nightโs meeting.

Town manager Ryan Hicks said the Town of Indian Head was still looking for members to serve on the Planning Commission as well as the Board of Appeals and Indian Head โGreen Teamโ.

The Town Council also adopted the new ethics ordinance in accordance with Maryland State Law.ย The ordinance takes effect on October 23, 2011.

Maria Johnson of Indian Head spoke about the flooding caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee.ย She said flooding, from a malfunctioning wastewater treatment plant, caused problems for her and was having problems with insurance.

โI feel like Iโm getting the runaround,โ Johnson said.
ย
The water was not discharging at the treatment plant and, as a result, started backing up on Jennifer Drive in Indian Head.ย

Roy Vermillion of Indian Head said the water backup caused a โtsunamiโ of water on Prospect Avenue.

โInstead of putting money in bike racks or whatever you want to do, youโve got to take care of (water) pipes,โ Vermillion said.
ย
Hicks said they are working with insurance companies on damage caused by the flooding and was working on repairing potential future issues.
