The artistic endeavors of students in the St. Maryโ€™s County Public Schools (SMCPS) were on display at the June 26 meeting of the St. Maryโ€™s County Board of Education. And those artistic efforts will continue to be on display at SMCPS central office in Leonardtown.

School Superintendent Dr. Martirano initiated the art displays when he became superintendent. The displays rotate every two year. In all there are 78 pieces of two-dimensional artwork and nine pieces of three-dimensional artwork within the exhibit. Each student also wrote their vision of their artwork, including material used, procedures they followed and their biographical sketch.

After the names were announced during the meeting and a group photo taken, the meeting went into recess so that the school board members and others attending the meeting, including many of the studentsโ€™ parents and family, could go around the hallways, view the art and talk to the artists.
