The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs broke open a 5-5 tie with three runs in the top of the 7th en route to a 9-7 victory over the Long Island Ducks and their fourth straight win overall. Southern Maryland remains two games out of first place in the Freedom Division with the victory.

In the 7th, the Blue Crabs put two runners on with one out against Brett Lorin. Steve Moss then singled to left field to bring in a run and an error by left-fielder Adam Bailey allowed a second run to score to make it 7-5. Moss scored when the next batter C.J. Ziegler doubled to left field to build a three-run lead.

Each side came away with two runs in the first inning. Jake Opitz hit a sacrifice fly and Jermaine Mitchell scored as part of a double steal for the first two runs of the game. Lew Ford and Cody Puckett answered with RBI singles of their own in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game 2-2.

Southern Maryland again jumped in front only to be pegged back. Moss lined a two run double in the 3rd inning for the lead but a hit batsmen with the bases loaded and a two-run single by Adam Bailey in the 4th inning gave the Ducks their first lead.

Angel Chavez tied the game in the top of the 6th inning for Southern Maryland with an RBI single that scored Mike Schwartz.
