Timothy Lee King II
Update 8/21/17-
Leonardtown, MD-ย On Monday, Aug. 21 Timothy Lee King II, 30 of Oxon Hill, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with all but six years suspended, after pleading guilty to sexual solicitation of a minor back in March.
In August of 2016, King was arrested after sending sexually explicit text messages to a 14-year-old female relative. The mother of the victim had received one of these messages and contacted the police.
An investigation was opened into the case and it was revealed that the messages began in July of 2016. King had requested the victim to perform various sexual acts on him and to send naked pictures of herself.
The victim did not engage in or perform any of the favors with King. The victim also described an incident where King smacked her inappropriately.ย
In court, the victimโs mother spoke about the toll it has taken on her daughter and her family. She asked the Honorable Judge Karen H. Abrams to sentence King to the maximum penalty allowed by the court. The victimโs mother spoke about how Kingโs crime hurt the entire family and how her daughter is receiving counseling to cope with the crime.
King spoke on his behalf before Judge Abrams issued the sentencing. He apologized for his actions and accepted full responsibility. He told the judge he was not a pedophile and wasnโt looking to have sex with young girls. King is also the father of two children, ages 12 and seven.
When it came time to issue the sentence, Judge Abrams said King should have stopped the texting conversation because he was the adult and she was just a child. Abrams also stated Kingโs criminal past played a role in the sentencing. Abrams noted she didnโt have any justification to reduce Kingโs sentence.
After King is released from prison, he will be on supervised probation for three years, must undergo a sex offender evaluation, register as a sex offender and is prohibited from having any contact with the victim and her family.
