On May 12 at 1:26 AM on Route 260 inย Owings,ย Trooper Roy stopped to assistย Trooper Chirichella with a single motor vehicle accident.

Chirichella had observed the operator lose control of his vehicle, strike a curb, and land in an embankment.ย When Chirichella stopped to investigate, the operator allegedly fled from the scene into a wooded area.ย Chirichella commanded the suspect to stop and he did so, returning to the roadside.

Charles Owens Gott, III, 24, of Owings was placed under arrest for fleeing and eluding. Suspected marijuana and a homemade wooden club were allegedly recovered from the vehicle.

Gott was transported to the Prince Frederick Barrack where he allegedly failed field sobriety tests.ย Gott was then charged with possession of marijuana and a concealed weapon, DUI, and various traffic violations. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissionerโ€™s hearing.
