Waldorf, MD— On Feb.22, Charles County Sheriff’s Officer J. Fromme responded to Hanley Court in Waldorf for the report of suspicious activity. A citizen advised that two individuals entered a residence that is vacant.ย

When officers arrived on the scene, they entered the residence through an unlocked basement sliding window. The officers met two subjectsย inside the residence, a male and a female who verbally identified themselves as Jawan Dewayne Howze, 21, Waldorf and Nichelle Larae Segarra, 22, of Woodbridge.ย

The suspects matched the clothing description given by the citizen. “As we (officers) searched the residence for more suspects, cigar wrapper, cigar innards, and empty glassine bags were observed throughout the home. No other individuals were located in our search,” Fromme stated.ย

According to charging documents, “The individualsย told me that they were driving around in Segarra’s vehicle, and decided to hang out inside of the vacant residence instead.” Howze told me (Fromme) that they entered the residence through the sliding glass door at the rear of the house, that was unlocked.”ย

Fromme asked for the defendant’s identification cards so he could document this incident, Segarra said her identification card was in her wallet inside her car. According to charging documents, “Sgt.Almassey opened the vehicle to retrieve Segarra’s I.D card, and detected the odor of marijuana emitting from her vehicle. He (Almassey) located a gray and black backpack that contained a glass jar of marijuana inside.”ย
