At 4:50 p.m. on April 2, Sgt. D. Bacon attempted to stop a motorcycle in the area of La Plata Road and Kerrick Drive in La Plata for a minor traffic violation.
The motorcycle pulled to the shoulder of the road and then sped off.
Sgt. Bacon and Officer R. Bagley of the La Plata Town Police stopped the motorcycle near Charles Street in La Plata.
The driver was identified as Ryan Douglas Coffren, 23, of Waldorf. He was charged with failing to fasten license plate in a visible position, fleeing and eluding, driving while suspended, passing in no-passing zone and speeding.
Coffren is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
