At 9:53 a.m. April 5, TFC J. Linger of the Leonardtown trooper barrack stopped a vehicle on Route 6 at Delebrooke Road, Mechanicsville, for being operated with a cracked windshield, loud exhaust and a nonfunctioning brake light.

The driver was identified as Benjamin Jay Shobert, 24, of Mechanicsville. A check through MVA indicated that Shobertโ€™s license was suspended and revoked. Shobert was placed under arrest.

A search incident to arrest was conducted. Located in the center console was a plastic pipe containing โ€œcrackโ€ cocaine.

Shobert was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, and Driving while Suspended/Revoked.

He was taken to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center and held pending a bail review.
