Authorities in St. Mary’s County are investigating a serious single vehicle accident in Medley’s Neck part of Leonardtown.
Rescue crews responded to the 20900 block of Whirlwind Road around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31 for report of a vehicle into a tree. Upon arrival, a four door Honda Accord with a single occupant that had left the roadway and struck a group of trees.
The driver, identified at Craig Michael Ringler, 29 of Mechanicsville, was operating the vehicle on a suspended license. The suspended driver admitted to reaching for his cell phone when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. Ringler was flown out by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 to Prince George’s Shock Trauma for his injuries.
Multiple charges are expected to follow.
