During the week of August 23 through August 29 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to 1,920 calls for service throughout the community.ย ย  Additionally, deputies arrested 8 people and charged them with DWI/DUI during the week.

Below is a list of theft from vehicles. Citizens are urged to lock their doors to homes and vehicles at all times.

Thefts from Vehiclesย 

Sometime between August 22 and 26 unknown suspect(s) removed a Nextbase DVD player worth $300 from a vehicle parked outside a home on Bayview Hills Drive in Chesapeake Beach.ย  The owner advised Dep. J. Parsons that the vehicle may have been left unlocked.ย  Dep. Parsons will continue the investigation.

Two unlocked vehicles parked in the driveway of a home on Ball Road in Port Republic had items stolen from within on August 24 at around 2:00 p.m.ย ย  A brown and white Coach wallet and a Blackberry cell phone were stolen as well as cash.ย  Dep. M. Economes is investigating the theft.

An Alpine faceplate worth $300 was stolen from inside a vehicle parked outside a home on Lakeview Turn in Dunkirk between August 26 at 11:30 p.m. and August 27 at 9:00 a.m.ย ย  The vehicle had been unlocked.ย  DFC T. Rickard is investigating.

An unlocked vehicle was entered sometime in the evening of August 28 while it was parked at the Mutual Elementary School on Ball Road in Port Republic.ย  The victim advised Dep. M. Economes that a blue, brown and white Vera Bradley wallet and a white Apple IPhone were stolen.
