Lexington Park, MD – J. Howard Thompson is the Democratic candidate for president of the St. Mary’s County Commissioners. Thompson has lived in St. Mary’s his whole life, graduating from Great Mills High School in 1976. He also attended Charles County Community College (now CSM), where he earned a professional license as both a master electrician and stationary engineer. Thompson currently works as the manager of a hotel and conference center for Seafarers International Union’s Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship. He started with them as an electrician apprentice 32 years ago.
On top of his business endeavors, Thompson is a volunteer for Christmas in April St. Mary’s County and has done so for all 28 years of the program’s existence. He previously served as a commissioner for the St. Mary’s County Board of Appeals, as chairman, and is currently the chairman for the St. Mary’s County Planning Commission.
Thompson’s personal goal is to “assure that St. Mary’s County continues to be the best place for our present and future generations to live.”
