Lexington Park, MD – J. Howard Thompson is the Democratic candidate for president of the St. Maryโ€™s County Commissioners. Thompson has lived in St. Maryโ€™s his whole life, graduating from Great Mills High School in 1976. He also attended Charles County Community College (now CSM), where he earned a professional license as both a master electrician and stationary engineer. Thompson currently works as the manager of a hotel and conference center for Seafarers International Unionโ€™s Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship. He started with them as an electrician apprentice 32 years ago.

On top of his business endeavors, Thompson is a volunteer for Christmas in April St. Maryโ€™s County and has done so for all 28 years of the program’s existence. He previously served as a commissioner for the St. Maryโ€™s County Board of Appeals, as chairman, and is currently the chairman for the St. Maryโ€™s County Planning Commission.

Thompsonโ€™s personal goal is to โ€œassure that St. Maryโ€™s County continues to be the best place for our present and future generations to live.โ€
