At 8:23 a.m. Nov. 23,ย Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to Walgreens on High Street in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. ย A male suspect had entered the store and presented a note to the pharmacist implying that he had a handgun.ย  He demanded that the pharmacist give him narcotics.ย ย 

The suspect then jumped over the counter and the pharmacist placed an undisclosed amount of narcotic medicine in a plastic bag. ย The suspect took the bag and fled the scene.ย ย 

A store employee attempted to pursue him.ย  A citizen outside the store observed the commotion and saw the suspect get into a vehicle. ย The citizen made a note of the license plate numbers and told the deputies when they arrived.ย  With that information, the deputies quickly traced the vehicle to the residence of the accused, Eddie Castro, 46, of White Plains.

Castro confessed to the robbery.ย  Castro was charged with armed robbery, use of a handgun in commission of a felony, first-degree assault and theft valued at more than $500.ย  The deputies recovered the narcotics.ย  Det. S. Fetterolf investigated.ย 

If convicted, Castro faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison for the armed robbery charge alone.ย  The โ€œuse of a handgun in commission of felonyโ€ charge guarantees the accused a minimum of 5 years in prison without possibility of parole.ย

At 10:10 a.m. Nov. 25,ย Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to a citizenโ€™s report of an armed robbery in Indian Head.ย ย 

A 17-year-old boy was riding his bike in the 7100 block of Indian Head Highway when he was approached by a single male suspect. ย The suspect brandished a pocketknife and demanded the boyโ€™s bike. ย The victim complied and the suspect fled north on Indian Head Highway.

The robber is described as a black male in his mid-twenties. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. ย The bike is a black โ€œBMXโ€ with the word โ€œDiamondbackโ€ on the frame in red letters. The bike has chrome wheels. ย Officer C. Stufft is investigating.

At 11:10 p.m. Nov. 25,ย Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to Golden Eagle Place in Waldorf for a citizenโ€™s report of an armed robbery.

A 48-year-old Waldorf man was unlocking the door to his residence when he was approached by two men.ย  The men brandished handguns and demanded his wallet, which the victim. ย After they got the wallet, the suspects ran off toward Snow Owl Place. Officers, including a K9 team, searched the area but the suspects were not located.

The suspects are described as white males, about 20 years old, wearing grey hooded sweatshirts and red hockey masks. ย No one was injured during the robbery. ย Officer J. Long is investigating.
