Shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, three people were hurt in a head-on crash on Marshall Corner Road and Bensville Road in Pomfret.
Arriving police and rescue volunteers found one person severely trapped in the passenger side of one vehicle. Firefighters worked for 15 minutes to free the patient from the crumpled car.
Two helicopters landed to transport three patients, one being an infant who was taken to Civista Medical Center for observation. Two adults were flown to Prince Georges County Hospital. Maryland State Police Trooper 2 helicopter and U.S. Park Police Eagle 2, landed in a field next to the scene to transport the patients.
At the scene, it appeared a young driver lost control of the vehicle at the intersection, causing the crash.
The Maryland State Police are investigating. More details when they become available.
