The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Fisheries service announced Thursday that 12-year old Kenny Harvey of Oakland is one of the l5 lucky anglers who caught tagged fish during the second week of the 2nd Annual Maryland $1,000,000 Fishing Challenge: The Return of Diamond Jim.

This weekโ€™s catches now qualifies a total of 24 anglers to win a chance at $1 million cash, a 20-foot center console Sailfish 206CC motorboat and trailer, an 18-foot 7-inch Tracker Nitro 591 motorboat and trailer, and two 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 pick-up trucks.

Kenny was fishing with his grandfather when he caught a Rainbow Trout in the Youghiogheny River on June 9. His mother said he skipped basketball camp this year to learn how to fish. Kennyโ€™s decision has paid off as he now qualifies to win $1,000,000.

โ€œI didnโ€™t know what the tag on the fish was for but we were excited after we read the tag and called the phone number,โ€ Kenny said.

When asked what heโ€™d do with $1,000,000, the soon to be 7th grader from Southern Middle School said, โ€œIโ€™d probably, being that Iโ€™m 12 years old, spend a little but have to save some for my future.โ€
