The Intercollegiate Womenโ€™s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released their 2007 Division III All-Region Teams this afternoon.ย  St. Maryโ€™s College of Maryland had three representatives on the All-Chesapeake Region Teams.

The IWLCA honored 212 student-athletes in Division III with a selection on one of the seven All-Region squads.ย  These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America teams, which will be announced on May 29. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the national All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 16, 2007 in Downingtown, Pa.

Sophomore midfielder Lauren Carrier (Crownsville, MD) led the Seahawk trio with a first team selection, while senior midfielder Danielle Miller (Montville, NJ/Montville) and freshman defender Karisa Carroll (Long Island, NY/Ward Melville) both earned a spot on the second team.

Carrier is making her second appearance on the all-region first team after making the squad last year as a freshman.ย  Her selection to the all-region team comes on the heels of her notching a spot on the All-Capital Athletic Conference First Team.ย  Carrier dominated the attacking end for the Seahawks as she tallied team-highs of 61 goals and 74 points.ย  She also led the team with 49 draw controls and 17 free-position goals, while being second in ground balls (44), caused turnovers (25) and assists (13).ย  An All-CAC Second Team pick as a freshman, Carrier was tops in the league this season in goals per game (3.81) and fourth in both points per game (4.62) and draw controls per game (3.06).ย  In just two years as a Seahawk, she has amassed 104 goals, 22 assists, and 126 points.

Making her first-ever appearance on an all-region team is Miller, who was the conference Co-Rookie of the Year in 2004.ย  A team captain this season, she finished her senior campaign as the teamโ€™s second-leading scorer with 39 points on 27 goals and 12 assists, while also ranking second in draw controls with 39.ย  In four years, Miller amassed 123 points on 99 goals and 24 assists as well as hustling after 119 ground balls and 88 draw controls.ย  Armed with a St. Maryโ€™s degree in economics, she will be pursuing a career in sports marketing.

Carroll reaps her first all-region honors as a Seahawk, two weeks after earning a spot on the All-CAC Second Team.ย  She led the Seahawks with 69 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers, while being fifth with 14 draw controls.ย  Carroll was also second in the conference with 4.31 ground balls per game.ย  She added a goal and an assist as well from her defensive position.

St. Maryโ€™s finished the 2007 campaign with an 8-8 overall record and a 4-3 mark in league action.
