At 10:08 P.M. on the evening of Saturday, September 10, 2011, crews were alerted for the barn fire on the 27000 block of James Road in Mechanicsville. Crews responded quickly with Engine 21 arriving first on scene to find a barn with fire showing. Crews made a swift and aggressive attack to knock down the fire and save the majority of the barn. Crews worked on scene for just over 2 hours while controlling the fire and ensuring their were no more hot spots in the barn full of tobacco.
