Lusby, MD – Local residents who felt slighted by a decision to close a public hearing Monday evening, Oct. 2 will get an opportunity to speak their piece later this month. On Friday, Oct. 6 Chief Public Utility Law Judge Terry J. Romine issued a notice of continuation of the public hearing regarding the application to amend Dominion Energy Cove Point’s certificate of public convenience and necessity (CPCN).

“The hearing, for those individuals who signed up to speak at the Oct. 2 hearing but were not called on due to time constraints, will be held Thursday, Oct.19  at 6p.m. at the Mill Creek Middle School Cafetorium, 12200 Southern Connector Boulevard in Lusby,” Romine stated in a missive. Persons who were unable to attend the Oct. 2 hearing will also have an opportunity to sign up and speak at the Oct.19 hearing. Written comments can also be filed with the Commission by Oct. 19.

according to Romine’s notice of continuation, persons who spoke or were called on to speak but failed to respond at the Oct. 2 will not be given an opportunity to provide any additional comments at the continuation of the public hearing.

When the Oct. 2 session was halted by deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, Romine had noted that 17 people who had signed up had not been called upon to speak.

The hearing drew a line that stretched out the door at Patuxent High School.
