La Plata, May 22 – A 3-year-old boy was found dead in a swing at Willis Memorial Park. The boy’s mother was pushing him in the swing, witnesses believe, for several hours. She’s charged in connection with the boy’s death.

Waldorf, May 20 – A man and woman, were shot in the parking lot of a McDonald’s Restaurant. The man later dies. The motive appears to be an ongoing child custody dispute between the wounded woman and her ex-mother-in-law.

Newburg, Nov. 6 – A woman, leaps to her death after stopping her car on the Harry Nice Bridge, exiting the vehicle and jumping off the span. A Potomac River fisherman witnesses the deadly leap and calls 911. ย /articles/1115/updatebodyofbridgejumperrecovered.html

Waldorf, May 3 – A motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck on Mattawoman Beantown Road. The cycle caught fire, and the two riders died at the scene. The driver was a member of a popular DC-area band.ย
