Lusby, MD— On March.7, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Dfc. Gott was on routine patrol in the area of Southern Connector Boulevard in Lusby when he observed a silver Dodge vehicle had a brake light out on the driver’s side.ย
Gott conducted a traffic stop on the Dodge at Sweetwater Road. Gott observed two large pit bulls in the vehicle with the driver. Gott made contact with the driver who was identified as Judith V. Chambers, 49, of Lusby.ย
Gott contacted the Calvert County Control Center and, “provided them with Chambers informationย and was advised that she currently had an active warrantย for her arrest through the Maryland State Police for failing to appear in District Court,” according to charging documents.ย
“Chambers asked if she could retrieve her phone from the car because the dogs may bite me (Gott).” According to charging documents, “I (Gott) allowed Chambers to get her phone and in the process of grabbing her phone from the vehicle, Chambers also grabbed an Almond Joy plastic wrapper containing suspected cocaine from the vehicle and quicklyย threw the wrapper on the ground. ย
“Chambers advised me (Gott) that it was just trash. A field test was conducted on the suspected cocaine recovered with a rapid test and a positive alert given.ย
Chambers was the placed under arrest for possession of cocaine and her active warrant. Chambers was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and was released to correctional staff.ย
Chambers was charged with CDS possession- not marijuana, and CDS possession paraphernalia. Chambers has a scheduled court date for June 8 at the Calvert County District Court.ย
