Lexington Park, MD – State officials estimate the damage to a single-wide mobile home in St. Mary’s County is $23,000 following a fire Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 6.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze on 1st Road in Lexington Park was reported sometime after 1 p.m. It was discovered by a neighbor. It took 15 firefighters 45 minutes to bring the flames under control.
No injuries were reported.
“The power had recently been restored to the home on the day of the fire,” a deputy fire marshal’s report stated. “The department advised upon entering the home that the fire was around the stove area in the kitchen. No one was home at the time of the fire. The occupant is being assisted by family. He was also given information to contact the Red Cross if needed.”
