Trio arrested for large amount of cash and drugs

St. Mary’s County Vice/Narcotics detectives identified Darius Timothy Woodland Jr. (Age 21 of Leonardtown) as a distributor of marijuana. As a result of the investigation a search and seizure warrant was obtained and executed on his home, located in the 41000 block of Norris Road in Leonardtown. Once inside detectives recovered nearly ¾ of a pound of marijuana (street value $1,500), a digital scale with marijuana residue, more than $350.00 in cash, a cell phone and three handguns and related ammunition. Suspect Woodland, Jr was arrested and additional charges are pending a review with State’s Attorney Richard D. Fritz.

Detectives observed Melvin Jerome Maddox aka “Melly-Mel” (Age 46 of Lexington Park) in a drug transaction with Brandi Marie Beckett (Age 32 of Lexington Park). Immediately following the transaction, both parties were stopped and detained. Nearly $3,000, packaging material and a cell phone were recovered from Suspect Maddox and “crack” cocaine was recovered from Suspect Beckett. Both suspects were arrested and additional charges are pending.
