At 10:17 a.m. Aug. 25, police and rescue volunteers were dispatched to a head-on crash on Colton Point Road in the area of Bushwood Wharf Road.

Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department Asst. Chief J.A. Nelson reports that Engine 54 arrived on the scene to find one patient was trapped in a vehicle, and two other patients from the second vehicle were out lying on the ground. The crew from engine 54 started patient care on the trapped patient and began extrication operations.

Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulance 597 arrived on the scene and the crew began caring for the two patients that were lying on the ground next to the second vehicle.

It was determined that at least one helicopter would be needed to the scene for the trapped patient. A short time later EMS requested a second helicopter for a second patient.

Trooper 7 helicopter could not handle both patients, and Trooper 2 was called to the scene. Trooper 2 and Trooper 7 flew both of their patients to PG Trauma Center.

VRS ambulance 197 transported the third patient to St. Mary’s Hospital.
