At 2:13 p.m. June 26, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Mitchell Road at Linden Farm Place in La Plata for the report of a motor vehicle crash.
Investigation revealed a 2003 Ford Explorer operated by a 16-year-old La Plata girl was traveling north on Mitchell Road when she lost control rounding a curve, overcorrected and crossed the center line, striking a southbound 1995 Mercury Villager head-on.
The 17-year-old La Plata girl driving the Mercury was trapped and had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center with incapacitating but non-life-threatening injuries The 16-year-old was not injured.
The crash occurred during a heavy rain shower. Officer R. E. Glover, Jr., of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
