At approximately 5 p.m. on May 18, the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squadย responded to an auto accident at the intersection of Route 4 North and Chaneyville Road.
There were three patients reported with minor injuries, but when fire service arrived, they found one patient who was entrapped and needed the rescue equipment to get the patient out of vehicle.
Three ambulances were dispatched to the call and two ambulances were required as they transported two patients on backboard and collar support and one patient who signed a release with no reported injuries.
According to authorities on the scene, โSituations such as this accident is why the fire department should always arrive at the scene and make the call on what service is required.ย Reports from other individuals and police service are not always the best solution and what is required to get the patient from the vehicle and transported to the hospital.ย Also there are times when medical personnel can spot something that someone else wonโt.โ
