At 11:57 A.M. on June 4, 2011, crews from Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department Co. 2, Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad Co. 29, and Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department Co. 2 EMS were alerted for the rescue assignment at the intersection of Thompson Corner Road and Three Notch Road (Rt. 235) in New Market. Comapny 2 responded with Chief 2 and Squad 2 and Hughesville with Paramedic Ambulance 28. Crews arrived on scene along with the St. Mary’s County Sheriffs Department to find two vehicles that were involved in the collision. One patient was transported to the hospital. Crews operated on scene for 31 minutes.
