Hugesville, MD – Around 3:48 a.m. on Sept. 18 the owner of a 2010 Volkswagon Jetta discovered her car on fire.
The vehicle was parked on the owner’s farm on Burnt Store Road in Hugesville. It took ten minutes for firefighters from the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department to control the flames.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be arson. $10,000 worth of damage was caused the the vehicle structure. The investigation is continuing.

In an unrelated incident units from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Bunker Hill Road in Waldorf around 10:40 a.m. on Sept. 18.
The fire’s cause is said to be arson. Damage to the 1999 Chrysler Concordeย is estimated at $1,000.
